Nothing really kicked off the year like a beginning-of-the-year party in the Gryffindor Common Room, and Harper was really taking advantage of the opportunities. And by the opportunities, she was referring to the bottles of firewhiskey that had been used to spike the punch. Smirking, Harper snatched her third glass of the night and sucked it down like demon, and some of her fellow sixth year girls scoffed in slight disgust at the way she practically inhaled it. But, then, again, they were all used to the way that Harper Bessett could hold her alcohol. It had been a long summer without her wizarding alcohol, as it was very much impossible to sneak things around her home with her father and mother keeping a close watch on what she did or didn't do. By no means were they oppressive, they were just protective. Harper knew the difference.
But that didn't mean that, while not under their watchful eye, she couldn't indulge on some luxuries. Somebody had managed to get hold of some reasonably good music for the party, and so after setting her now empty glass on a nightstand, Harper decided to take to the dance floor, or what could be made of one in the Common Room with practically everyone in attendance. She spotted terrified first years along the walls, eyes wide as they took in the scene. Harp could remember her first year here at Hogwarts almost like it was yesterday, which made it seem all to close for the sixth year. On the other hand, her graduation was a mere year and a half away. The thought was rather terrifying, yet thrilling at the same time.
With that in mind, Harper started swaying to the beat, beginning to feel the effects of the firewhiskey slowly burning in her stomach, and a slight buzz in her mind was alerting her to the fact that she was starting to get a little tipsy. That spiking had to be pretty strong, but she certainly didn't mind. Spinning around, shaking in time to the beat of whatever song it was, she wasn't paying attention to where she was going. So, of course, she didn't notice at all that she was nearing someone. And, so, she was completely caught by surprise when she twirled once and accidentally bumped into someone... rather tall. Blinking, but not really registering who it was she'd bumped into. She hiccuped. "Whoops. Sorry," she quickly said, even though she didn't mean the apology, and it was evident in her voice.

Hogwarts, it was so good to be home. Yeah, supposedly he had a residence with his parents and brother but he hadn’t called that place home in many years, he had even spent as much time as he could during his holidays at the Potters household rather than his own. The Potters had begun to consider him one of the family, and he them. Still it was nice to be back in the castle, especially for the traditional start of the year party. Organized by himself and the rest of the Marauders of course, he and James nicking food from the kitchens while Remus and Peter handled crowed control. Not that Peter seemed to be doing much, as Sirius looked around he saw their little friend in the corner by the fire place just watching everyone else have fun. He sometimes worried about that bloke..
However as the party got more and more underway Sirius’ worries seemed to disappear as he was now on his fourth cup of spiked punch. That he had spiked of course after sneaking down to the three broomsticks with James cloak and buying up a whole stash of the stuff. It was their last year, so why not start the year with a bang? Even if in the end the night was a blur it was still going to be a blur worth barely remembering. He was standing by the concession table as he got another punch, looking around at the crowed. He spotted James in the corner doing his best to charm Lily Evans and when his eyes met his best friends he just chuckled and gave him a thumbs up before downing the punch in one large glup.
As he placed his glass on the counter he noticed a few girls on the dance floor smiling at him, he gave them a wink and that caused them to let out a bunch of giggles. He was a ladies man through and through, most of the girls around Hogwarts knew that by now but it still didn’t seem to stop allot of them from flirting with him or even sneaking away to a broom closet. Sirius had no complaints over that if girls kept thinking they would be the one to ‘change his lady charming ways’ not that it was going to happen, but it was fun to have them try.
After refilling his glass he took another gulp, definitely feeling the effect of the firewhiskey now as he headed over to the girls.” Hello ladies, so who is going to be enjoying my lovely company tonight?” He asked with a grin which made them giggle again. However just then a girl ran into him and his hand went around her waist without really thinking about it. When he looked down to see who he had caught he pretty much forgot about his little gaggle of fan girls and looked down at the girl with a charming smile.” Hey there beautiful, don’t worry about it. You looking for a dance partner though? Because I think you ran into a willing volunteer.”
Out of the corner of his eye he could see the other girls fuming and storming off that they seemed to have been so easily forgotten. Just truth was this girl was breath taking, and he kept running through his mind if he knew her or had at least seen her before because she looked about his age.” Names Sirius, Sirius Black. Whats yours brown eyes?” He asked with a charming smile still on his lips.

Harper usually wasn't one for dancing with someone, considering as a majority of the time she was a solo act. She'd dated all of three times in her six years at Hogwarts, two of which the relationships hardly lasted two weeks. The third had gone on for three months but had lost the fire, and as Harper was a person who had a reasonably short attention span, she saw no other option than to cut it off. Most of the time she flirted, and more often than not the flirting was returned shamelessly. But never had Harper ever allowed it to go any further.
However, as she spun around to face who she'd bumped into, she was caught completely by surprise. Well, hot damn, she thought to herself, smirking. He was hot. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was vaguely aware that she'd seen him around before, and that she knew his name, but for the life of her she couldn't remember exactly what it was. She felt an arm around her waist, and one of her eyebrows raised up as her smirk grew. The guy was extremely forward, and she wasn't entirely sure if she liked it or hated it. Harper so no reason to pull away just yet - after all, being in the arms of a hot boy wasn't the worst way to spend the evening. Besides, the buzzing in her head was distracting enough that she didn't even need to worry about it.
"Looking for a dance partner? Depends on the moves you've got, big guy. I don't just take any poor schmuck who thinks he can dance," she said in a rather cocky voice, seemingly unbothered by everything around her. Harper was fairly arrogant, in some ways, for a sixth year girl, but quite frankly she didn't care one bit. In fact, there wasn't much that Harper displayed cares for, though she definitely wasn't completely careless.
Ah. Sirius Black. That was the name she'd been fishing for. Yeah, she knew him. She knew who he was. Granted, her mind was a little too fuzzy to figure out how exactly she knew, but she did. Wait... what did she know, again? Harper wasn't drunk, but her mind was far too distracted to really think of anything else at the moment other than the fact that this really hot guy was asking her to dance. He asked her for her name. "Harper," she replied coyly, winking up at him. "Sure you really need to know the last name?" In no way was her last question an insult of any kind, but Harper knew very well that there was a very good chance that neither of them would remember this, so what was the point? Then again, she wasn't entirely she could forget this guy's smoldering eyes.

As the girl turned to look at him he couldn’t help but wonder if she liked what she saw as her eyes widened for a moment. He usually got that allot but the fact that she seemed to be keeping it to herself made him smirk a bit, she must have been a feisty one. Just for the life of him he couldn’t remember her name, Harriet? Harley? It was something with a H he knew that much, or well at least he hoped. His eyes scanned the room for a moment and saw the girls from before sulking in the corner, truth was Sirius was usually one to be surrounded by a bunch of girls at these kinds of parties but as he looked down at the girl in his arms he thought just maybe he would be a one woman man tonight. Wow, he must really be tipsy if he was thinking that.
Just this girl was gorgeous, and it was just for one night. So what could it hurt? Not to mention knowing most of the girls who usually hang around him it would probably just make them more persistent later. At least until the finally got to know him a little because that was just how it was. They would get a little close and then he would close himself like a trap door and he would ditch them. That was probably one of the reasons he had dated like 15+ girls since he came to school and none of them have ever lasted longer than 2 months, not to mention all the girls he had flirted with in between. Did it make him a jerk? Probably, but he was just a guy who liked to have a little fun.
When she said that she didn’t just dance with anyone he couldn’t help but smirk, he had been right about her being a feisty one.” gorgeous smile and a fiery attitude, aren’t you just the complete package?” He said in a teasing tone but looked down at her with a wink, yeah he was defiantly really tipsy but it was nothing that would have him falling over. Sirius Black was a guy who could hold his liquor better than most.” Well, how about you give me a test run and if you deem me unworthy you can go find someone else and leave me to my own devices?” He said with a smirk before he finished his glass of punch, putting it on the table before placing both his hands on the girl’s waist and pulling her close.
“ Harper? Such a lovely name.” He said with a wink as he began to move with her to the music, still holding her rather close as he ignored the rest of the common room. Harper! At least he had been right about it being an H name, and probably if he hadn’t been 5 drinks in he would of remembered her last name but as of right now it just wasn’t coming to him.” First name is fine for now darling.” He said with a bit of a smirk, knowing he would probably have a serious migraine in the morning but that wouldn’t keep him from remembering that bright smile that was looking up at him. He twirled her once before bringing her close to him again with a smirk.” So how are my moves so far? Worthy? Or are you going to break my little heart?” He asked teasingly, knowing that a girl breaking his heart usually was not in the equation even if they did reject him he wasn’t one to care. Just right now? He had to admit he was hoping his dance moves where worthy.

Almost immediately, her eyebrow raised at the compliment as an appreciative smirk spread over her features. Gorgeous smile, huh? The smirk turned into a grin, just to test it out. Flicking some more of her long, dark hair over her shoulder, she looked up at him mischievously. She liked the way this boy talked, and was very tempted to give him a test run as he'd proposed. "Don't see how it could hurt," she considered out loud.
Then again, he didn't give her much of a choice, did he? Harper was about to offer him her hand when he took the liberty of grabbing her by the waist and pulling her towards him. Forward and bold. She wasn't sure if she was more ready to slap him or just take him up on the offer. She was always so used to being in control, and wasn't sure how she felt about this whole thing. The smile vanished from her face for a second before she decided it wasn't worth it. After all, this was a very hot guy who'd managed to get her to dance with him. And, to be honest, as they moved, he wasn't so bad. Her smile returned, and a flirty one at that.
"Lovely name, eh? Knew my mum gave me that name for a reason," Harper deadpanned right back at him, smirking. She looked up at him from under her long eyelashes. The buzz in her mind had ebbed just a tad, and for a minute she was able to fully appreciate the moment. She was dancing with Sirius Black. How many girls' fantasies was she fulfilling right now? Not that this had ever been one of hers, but it was still a funny thought.
"Looks like you can move on your feet pretty well, handsome. So I don't think heartbreak is in order just yet. But watch your step, because I think you'll find I'm a reasonably picky dance partner," she then said bluntly, smiling. Taking the liberty of putting her hands on his shoulders (because he was a bit too tall for her to put her arms around his neck), she batted her eyelashes in that excessively flirtatious way that girls seemed to do when they were being obvious - Harper, on the other hand, used it almost like sarcasm. "Might want to tell your fan club to back off, Mr. Black. I'm not up for cat fights during the first week of the school," she remarked, eying the girls who were glaring rather angrily in their direction.

When he said that she had a gorgeous smile he could tell that she was testing his theory as her smile grew.” Simply breathtaking.” He said teasingly, though truth was she did think she was beautiful and where most guys would probably find her attitude intimidating or something, he just found it simply charming. He was used to girls fawning over him and well, making it easy for him. Just this girl? Even though she was dancing with him he could tell she was different. “ Im honored you have given me such a chance dear lady.” He said with a sarcastic smirk as he pulled her close. For a split second he thought he had just earned himself a slap in the face as her smile faded, but it was soon back and he let out a breath that he hadn’t seemed to know he was holding. Thank Merlin, he had a wager with James going that the next one who go slapped by a girl owed the other a firewhiskey.
And he wasn’t about to see the smug look on his best mates face if he owed him a firewhiskey!
“ Your mum sounds like a smart woman then” He said with a small laugh as she made the comment about the compliment he made. His eyes scanned the room for a moment and saw James give him a wink, this usually happened when one of them had found a girl. Just right now Sirius just rolled his eyes before looking back down at the girl in his arms. This was really starting to shape up to be a good start of the year, a awesome party and a really beautiful girl in his arms. Handsome? He couldn’t help but grin at that fact, sure he had heard girls call him that before but he never really got tired of it.” Ill be sure to keep up my best dance moves, because I know I hate rejection.” He said sarcastically as he held her a little closer, expecting that if she didn’t like It she would be one to tell him so. Though when she mentioned his fan club his brown eyes searched the room and found the group of girls from before staring at them.” Oh no? Because Im pretty sure you could take them beautiful..” He said with a bit of a smirk as he looked back at her.” But how about we steal a couple bottle of firewhisky that me and the guys brought up and we go have a party of our own? Feel like a walk around the grounds? I know how to keep us from getting caught..”

"Smart woman? Please, my mum's a genius," Harper remarked with a snort, as if Sirius had just said something that only an idiot would suggest. She was extremely proud of her mother, and loved her to death. Harp's family was one of the many things that she simply loved in life, and her mother was no exception, even if many other students at Hogwarts would look down on her for being a Muggle. But Harper loved it.
The smirk remained on her face as he remarked that he'd keep up with his best dance moves. She swayed in time to the beat with him, and dancing with Sirius Black wasn't the worst thing she'd ever done. "You do that, and we'll see how long you last," Harper snickered, raising an eyebrow. "I get bored pretty easily, unless there's some firewhiskey in for me." Her eyes had already wandered back to the drink table, and she was already wondering how long it would be before she could snatch her next cup of spiked punch. The buzz in her mind still hadn't ceased, and she knew that she'd at least have a bit of a headache. But it was only going to be the first day of classes - what did she care?
Of course, that was when Sirius suggested they leave the party with a few bottles of the coveted alcohol itself. It was obvious when she perked up in interest and a grin spread over her features. Walk around the grounds, eh? With Sirius Black? Normally, she would have flat out refused him, as some part in the back of her mind was screaming that this wasn't a good idea. But, that part of her brain was muted by the alcohol, and so Harper just let her grin grow wider as she said, "Don't see where the harm could be in that, as long as one of those bottles has my name on it and I don't have to share. My firewhiskey is the one thing I don't share with anyone, I'll have you know." The hiccup that came afterwards was purely coincidental. "Lead the way, handsome. Let's blow this popsicle stand."
