PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: Ryan is a rather amicable person. He is usually happy, outwardly friendly, and hyper. Sometimes his hyperness can border on annoying, but he’d like to think that he knows when to draw the line. However, if the situation calls for it, he can get quite serious. It’s not that he wants to be offensive by his happy nature, but Ryan just wants to remember that he’s still a kid and is entitled to have child-like fun. Very forgiving, Ryan believes in second (or more) chances and can be dangerously naive at times. Innocent (in both ways and despite his past), Ryan tries to see the good in everyone and believes that anyone can change. He’s approachable and eager to make friends. Once someone befriends him, they’re usually stuck with his annoying/crazy antics for life. He’s very open to new ideas, but when he’s made his judgement, he’ll usually stick with it to the grave. At that point, he can get stubborn (about an idea) and protective (over people).
On the flip side, Ryan can get very shy. He’s uncomfortable around adults other than his adopted parents; Ryan outside of the class room is very different from when he’s in a class. His happy demeanor goes right out the window and he usually just sits very quietly and listens to the teacher, trying not to get distracted. He only talks when he absolutely is forced to (aka they call on him and he just answers out of respect). He is more of the “stop the violence and keep the peace” kind of guy, so that’s what he goes around promoting most of the time. He dislikes separation of houses, and believes that age, life and death are just illusions that separate people. Hardworking, Ryan has started considering becoming either an auror or a healer when he grows up. He’s become a bit more serious in his school work and is working on not getting distracted so easily.
Even though at times it may seem that it’s impossible to get Ryan angry, or sad, it can (and does) happen. He still has nightmares from when he was a kid, and even though he doesn’t show it to others, they still scare him. Even though it’s been around ten years, he still has the old fear that his biological father will come to take him back. Ryan is also a bit edgy on being adopted too; since he’s been moved around for a considerable amount of time, he’s wary to believe that he’ll actually stay with his legally adopted parents. He still has a rather easy time trusting though, trying to see situations in a positive light. It’s rather easy to tell if Ryan’s upset, mostly because he’s horrible at masking his feelings. Usually, he’ll be come solitary, something that he doesn’t often purposefully seek.

biological: Matthew Ruckshack
adopted: Robert Simons
MOTHER:
biological: Alessandra Ruckshack
adopted: Jacqulyn Simons
SIBLINGS: n/a
OTHER FAMILY: numerous foster care parents and their kids
SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS: lower middle class
HISTORY OVERVIEW: Ryan was born on September 25 to parents who, quite honestly, weren’t exactly ready to have kids yet and married for the wrong reasons. His mother was a muggle and his father was a wizard who had detached himself from the magical world. He “forgot” to mention the wizardry part of his past to his wife, hoping that it would never come out into the light. It was only when Ryan was born that he saw a potentially problematic situation. He did his best to brush it off, but by the time Ryan was four, small things started...well, happening. It being “potentially problematic”, started to be come just problematic. When he was three and didn’t like his food, the Gerber glass jar shot itself at his mother’s head; whenever Ryan had a nightmare, the fuse box would blow and/or he’d appear at his parents’ side inhumanely fast. Matthew finally decided that he had to tell his wife. She didn’t take it as well as he had hoped; as a matter of fact, she didn’t take it well at all. She got up and left him, not even taking a look back at her own child or married life. Matthew never heard from her again.
It started going all down hill from there. Meaning, for the for next few months Ryan started getting cuts and bruises all over himself. Matthew would often come home drunk...and that’s when Ryan took to hiding anywhere he could find. Not knowing in the least bit why he was in so much trouble, and thinking he could fix it, he left the house so he could find his mom. He was found in one of his town’s streets, completely miserable and lost, by a total stranger. She did what any sensible person would do: she brought him to a police station. After some gentle questioning, a child protection service got involved and the five year old was sent into foster care. To say he was confused was an understatement, but Ryan went along with the change of events with little resistance. Upon initial investigation, is father readily relinquished custody so that Ryan could be put up for adoption.
As a foster child, he was bounced around a lot and learned to never quite get too comfy with one family. At one home, he was tree climbing and fell half way down the tree. It left a scar on his shoulder and his foster parents kinda forbid him from climbing. Too stubborn to give up, he scaled up another tree two months later, with a different family. This time, he fell out again, but bounced back and wasn’t hurt except for a small bruise. He was finally adopted when he was almost eleven. His newly adopted parents, Jacqulyn and Robert, were, by fate, of magical blood themselves. At first, it was a weird concept to him that’d he have a permanent home, but as time went on, he relaxed and let the parent/son relationship flow freely for the first time in a long time. Nearly a year after he got adopted, he received a letter from Hogwarts; both he had his parents were pleasantly surprised. They went to Diagon Alley to get his school supplies and then sent him off on the train.
Overall, Ryan has loved his time at Hogwarts. The Sorting Hat almost took near no time with him and sorted him straight to Hufflepuff. He has found a second family in the house, and the school. Still a little shy about staying in one place, year round, Ryan soon came out of his shell to find that most of his nature had stayed fully intact; he was still happy and bouncy from when he was four. However, he has picked up uneasiness when infront of a classroom or when alone with adults. At the end of his second year, his adopted parents offered him a choice of keeping his last name of Ruckshack, or adopting their name of Simons. Ryan chose to cut off his last name by birth. He goes back to his adopted parent’s house at any time he can for Holidays and writes near every other day.
Through the four years of being at Hogwarts, Ryan has felt the rising tension, and hopes he can stay as neutral as possible. Only gods know how much he dislikes violence. For now, Ryan just wants to keep his studies up and his peace making tendencies stable while still having fun every now and again.

YOUR TIMEZONE: Eastern, US
YOUR EXPERIENCE: around 3 years
YOUR OTHER CHARS: None... I’mma stick with one now o.o
YOUR SAMPLE: As a different Ryan... wayyy different xD
Ryan hated taking orders. Undeniable fact of his life. Rather, he hated taking orders from other Campers and peers. At home, of course, he had to take them, but here, he wouldn't stand it. Ryan wasn't big on authority and obeying rules anyway, he had decided to revolt. He hadn't followed rules during the Battle of Manhattan, he didn't during camp, and he wasn't about to begin to now. Teamwork wasn't in his vocabulary, but he'd gladly take any excuse to fight. Capture the Flag was an excuse to fight. Nearly everyone in Camp participated, sadly, but at least it was something. Per usual, Ryan was more in the part of the forest where less of the fray was. Just because it was a fighting game, it didn't automatically mean that Ryan was going to become social.
He was probably never going to be a social animal. In all honesty, this was probably the only Camp wide event he participated in; the only reason being was that he actually liked this game. It was what he was used to. It was the type of suicidal, crazy fighting game that Kath would create. Demigods run into a forest full of other demigods, sharp objects and Monsters. A game that could possibly end up killing someone, if not seriously injure. It was in the forest, it was dangerous, it involved fighting: Ryan was game. Blame his twisted aunt for corrupting his idea of "fun". Ryan continued to pass the various forest like attributes of the dangerous woodlands. Good thing they played mostly in the light. Not that Ryan minded the dark, but the lighting changed places... and people. Besides, if they were playing this game in the dark, Ryan wouldn't be any use. Sure, he'd know his way around the forest just fine, but he was a total fail at Dark Fighting... or fighting in the dark. However one wanted to word it.
The fifteen year old continued running through the forest, familiar landmarks blurring; Ryan hardly had time to register them: rock with a jagged surface, jump over a log, tree with a split trunk... everything formatted exactly how he remembered it. He slowed down in the middle of a groove of trees, thinking he heard something. Hearing things for him wasn't exactly normal, but wasn't exactly surprising either; being in a forest full of monsters helped increase paranoia, after all. Ryan slowed further and took out his swords. It could of been nothing, or a squirrel, or another demigod, or a monster. Whichever it was though, he'd be ready.
