Daniel had a certain fondness for Hogsmeades. Probably because he had the biggest sweet tooth for Honeydukes (we're talking horrible cavities if he didn't take such good care of taking care of his teeth besides that). So it made sense that he had taken a break from writing his essay for Potions to take a little trip down to Hogsmeade, where he could look for a new book, gulp down a frothy butterbeer and pick up a few licorice wands all within thirty minutes. Or well, an hour, if he was being honest. He had no desire to study potions and their potential side-effects so a little procrastinating needed to be done. Even the kids from the supposed clever house needed a break every once in a while. It was no good when your face had words imprinted onto it from falling asleep on your textbook.
Sucking on a sugar quill, Danny pushed his way out of Honeydukes, nearly taking out a small Ravenclaw girl on his way out. "My apologies, sweetheart," He bowed jokingly as he grinned at the girl, who rewarded him with the smallest of blushes and an amused giggle in return. A fourth year if he remembered correctly. Which, to be honest, he usually didn't. It wasn't as if he didn't care, he just normally only knew the names of those in his own year and those who were immensely popular around Hogwarts..or well anyone who was on a quidditch team, seeing as that was much more important to him.
Sauntering through Hogsmeade, Danny already knew exactly where his next destination was. He'd already browsed through the small bookstore, and Honeydukes so all that remained on his list was the Three Broomsticks, where hopefully a warm butterbeer would inspire his essay-writing skills. Seemed doubtful though seeing as a butterbeer could only really inspire him to do one thing...drink more butterbeer. From there it would just turn into a cycle...a cycle that would cost him an hour, who knows how many sickles, and a sugar high that would eventually lead to a sugar-induced crash. Hardly a healthy cycle.
But totally worth it, he grinned as he threw down a few sickles on the counter. It was only a matter of moments before one of the waitresses he was familiar with slid a warm mug his way. Nodding his thanks, he wandered over to a nearby booth and slid in. Kicking up his feet on the other end of the booth, he slouched back and took a huge gulp from his mug. Little did he know, the frothy remnants of the drink left behind a very foamy, very prominent, mustache above his lips. What he didn't know wouldn't hurt him though, right? Though it did leave him feeling quite confused as he chewed on one of his licorice wands and a little groupful of girls walked by him pointing and giggling in that way of theirs.
"Girls," he would never understand, he thought as he took another sip of his drink, only adding to his foam mustache. [/size]

Fionna had been sitting in the corner of Three Broomsticks for an hour now, scrutenizing her potions book. She was awful at potions. Although, she wasn't really supposed to be studying now. It was only after one of her friends has forced her out of the study hall, and she had been kicked out of the library by one of the librarians that she knew well, that she decided to come down to Three Broomsticks. Everyone was telling her she needed to take a break, but she couldn't. She was supposed to enjoying herself, but all she could do was go over the potions over and over again. She glared at the words on the page. How could she focus when all these young girls were giggling and whispering to themselves in the next table over?
Fionna sighed with irritation and turned to the next table. "Do you mind? Some of us are actually trying to study." She glared at the giggling girls, who suddenly fell silent. She turned back to her book and tried to get back into concentration mode. She heard one of the girls say some kind of comment about her being a bitch and Fionna stood up in anger. "You know, some of us actually care about our grades instead of just what boys you think look cute!" She snapped and moved over to the bar.
She sat down next to a boy that she recognized was a Ravenclaw. She also believed that he was on the Quidditch team, but they hadn't had many practices and she couldn't recall. "Some girls are so irritating" Fionna murmered and then looked at the guy, smiling a little. She was pretty sure she was on the team, and she knew for sure that he was in her grade.
"Excuse me, but are you on the Quidditch team? Sorry, I have an awful memory, and if you've been on it for a while, I'm sorry, but you look really familiar. I'm Fionna Wood, I'm the team captain" Fionna offered her hand out to the guy, and waved her free hand in the air to call over the waitress. She handed her a butterbeer without taking her order, but Fionna still sipped at it. Although she wasn't a huge butterbeer fan, she wouldn't turn one down, since they were warm and sweet enough to satisfy whatever hunger you had. Fionna looked back at the guy and shrugged a little as she took a sip, licking the froth from her upper lip. "You have a froth mustache, by the way" She added nonchalantly.

Glancing over his shoulder, away from his enticing butterbeer, Danny had to wonder who was in such a snippy mood today. Though he couldn't really blame whoever had snapped at the girls because their high-pitched squeals were enough to make anyone despise them. Only he wasn't as easily bothered by those small little details because he had a special talent for tuning them out. And he if anything, he was more of an enthusiastic person so if something amused them then who was he to knock that? He was one of those 'have fun while you could' types, or at least most of the time. Studying was somewhere at a tie with having fun so he wasn't quite sure on his priorities there.
Apparently the raven-haired girl had no problem stomping on their fun though because she told them right off. He could admire that, especially since he shared her annoyance of people who wouldn't shut the hell up when it was clear someone was trying to study. Though he'd noted from experience that the Three Broomsticks was hardly a nice place to study. Peace and quiet was rare there so she probably should have picked a more secluded study area. Like the library would have been the obvious choice, or even underneath a big bushy tree outside in Hogsmeade. However, he could understand why she'd want to be here. The atmosphere was a little cozier, and well it didn't smell like dust like the library did.
"Tell me about it. There's this one girl," He paused, sighing dramatically, "Who can't even appreciate the fact that I'm a cute-looking boy clearly worth giggling over." Danny grinned at her, his voice light and joking in an attempt to lighten up her mood. Though she didn't seem terribly upset now that she'd migrated away from the little clique of girls, who couldn't have been more than fifth years. Clearly then, girls who didn't know when to cut their losses and shut their traps before they got in real trouble.
Nodding, Daniel took her hand and gave it two shakes before turning it over and gently planting a kiss on it. He couldn't help it, he was flirty by nature! Hopefully she wouldn't have too much of a problem with it. He didn't fancy walking back to the Ravenclaw common room with a red handmark on his face. "For a while actually yeah, since about third year. The seeker," Danny withdrew his hand and pointed at himself unnecessarily. "And I know who you are, Miss Fiona, I've listened to your semi-peptalks before every game for a while now. I, however, am Danny, or Daniel, whichever you prefer."
Reaching up to his lips, he could, indeed, feel a layer of foam coating the skin above his lip. Wiping it off quickly with a napkin, Danny offered her a sheepish smile. "I was saving it for later?...As a..snack?" He tried, his grin only widening as he tried to dig himself out of a hole. Danny hardly seemed too embarrassed by it though, if anything, he found it just as amusing. He did appreciate that she didn't laugh at him for it though (not that he would've blamed her if she had). And now he could finally understand why those girls had been laughing at him earlier.

Fionna snorted a little, covering her mouth with embarassment. "Tell me about it. How did they not faint from your beauty?" She teased, and then took a sip from her butterbeer. The fact that he had just kissed her hand made her want to half punch him, half burst into laughter. She eneded up just stairing at him with a confused look. "I know I'm sexy, Dan, but please, contain yourself" she joked and whipped the back of her hand on her skirt as if she were trying to whipe off the germs. She felt bad for not knowing him before and she felt like she had to make up for it some how.
Fionna burst out laughing when he whipped out off the foamy mustache and gave her his excuse. This guy seemed a lot more relaxed than she was, and she appreiciated that. She did need to relax, even though she really didn't want to admit it. "So what are you doing here? I thought all Raveclaw students lived in the library." She smirked, although she knew that she wasn't being super funny or anything. She believed she was right, though. All the Ravenclaws she knew had some weird thing with their grades like she did. "In fact, the only reason I'm here is because the librarian told me I needed a break. I came here so people would think I was taking some time off instead of just studying." Fionna shrugged.
She felt a little bad that she didn't have anything to do besides study and practice Quidditch. She was determined to be the best, though, and that entailed working hard almost all the time. Fionna waved over the waitress. "I'll cover Danny's bill, after all, we're team mates. We gotta look out for eachother" She nudged Danny playfully as the waitress nodded and walked away. Fionna grinned at Danny. "Just so you can replenish that mustache, if you want" she smiled, laughing a little. She could feel herself relaxing a little more, and it felt odd because normally she was so uptight.
That might have just been because she had had to spend so much time with girls and she hated spending time with girls. All that giggling and boy talk and stupid stuff like that. She couldn't handle it all the time. That might have been part of the reason she had been attracted to coming to the Three Broomsticks, where a lot of the male students liked to hang out. She could study and get away from the constant estrogen.

Daniel smiled softly to himself, taking a bite of licorice wand in an attempt to hide his amusement. Technically he would be laughing 'at' her, and he doubted she would appreciate that very much (even if it was simply because he found her little slip-up snort a tad amusing and cute in a way). "Simple," He shrugged, a grin sneaking its way onto his lips. "The same way I don't faint from yours, mental stamina." He tapped his fingers to his temple, trying his best to look wistful, but still failing a tad. Ah, well, the general point had still been made, he thought as he dropped his hand back to his side.
Blinking in surprise, Danny only needed a few seconds to recover his flirty grin. "And modest too so I see," He raised his eyebrows, "But well I can't deny the truth, I did loose my composure there for a second." Shrugging his shoulders, he propped his head up on his elbow to keep a better view of the girl. "Hey now!" He protested, feigning a hurt look as she wiped away his 'boy cooties' on her uniform skirt. "I'm not that horrifying..at least I don't think. And no other lovely lady has told me otherwise. Being the first is not a good thing for you."
"Believe it or not, I'm taking a break from writing my essay." He sighed leaning lazily against the bar. He had nearly been 3/4 of the way done with it when he'd discovered that seeing double of the essay was not a good sign that he was focusing. "Just because everyone else in our house has a bit of an obsession with the library doesn't mean we all do. I find there's certain importance in having fun too, and while it's useful and I do share the love of literature..the library smells like dust." He admitted with a wrinkle of his nose.
"With that said, I think I'd make a wonderful distraction for you if you actually want to try taking a break."
Danny almost had to laugh at her insistence on paying for the bill since they were teammates. Not that she had known for certain that they were teammates until oh, say about, five seconds ago. He wasn't really offended by it, just amused. It was perfectly understandable considering he was the seeker so he wasn't exactly involved in team tactics. He had one job, and that was to catch the snitch, there wasn't much strategy about it.
"You just want to get me another butterbeer because you think I'm cute with a foam mustache, don't you?" Danny smirked at her, gently shoving her shoulder in response to her playful nudge.

Fionna couldn't hold in her laughter. She hadn't really met another person who was so funny. Most other Ravenclaws were as uptight as she was. She winked at him in responce to him saying that he has to use mental stamina to keep his composer. "Well there's a reason why no girl's said anything. You are quite a speciman of a wizard. I merely don't want to catch anything." She laughed and snorted a little. She covered her mouth with embarassment.
She nodded in agreement that their house was known for being stuck in the library. She even happened to be one of them. Fionna shrugged a little bit, a bit of a smug smile on her face. She liked this boy, who had the weird idea of having fun while working. Fionna did have to admit that she was able to balance fun and work when it came to Quidditch. She laughed at his comment about the dusty books. " Hey, my theory is that the more dust it has, the better it's gonna be."
Fionna eyed him with fake suspicion when he said that he could keep her distraction. "Oh really? Just how would you distract me? Hmm? Nothing too bad, right?" She gave him an evil grin and then laughed a little bit. "I do want to relax a little. I mean, the librarian told me to get out and do something, that has to mean something, doesn't it?"
Fionna glared a little at Danny as he insinuated that he was cute with a butterbeer mustache. She rolled her eyes a little and crossed her arms, but then smiled a little bit. "All right, you got me. I just wanted to see that little white bit of foam on your upper lip!" She laughed and then nudged Danny back in the shoulder. She was pretty sure that this guy was the exact opposite of her. She was pretty sure that he was the perfect guy for her...as a friend. Fionna had to repeart that part in her head. As a friend. That's all guys ever were for her.
"Anyways, how do you plan to destract me from school? I don't get easily destracted, mind you, so you have you're work cut out for you."
Fionna drank down the last of her butterbeer and then pulled a sugar quill from her pocket. It was warm from being there so long and she had to eat carefully or else it would completely crumble. She stuck out her toung and tried to look at it, forcing her to cross her eyes, and noticed that her tongue had turned blue. She snickered.

"And maybe you should contain yourself...I mean I know I'm funny..but really?" Daniel smirked, giving her a pointed look. He didn't like to brag...much, but humor was one of those things that tended to make him unique in the Ravenclaw house. He was clever enough, and he was certainly smart enough to be called a Ravenclaw. But sometimes he had to wonder if, with his personality, he would've been better suited to some other house. Slytherin definitely wasn't for him, that much he could tell, but the other two houses seemed like they would be more fitting to his style. Most of his close friends were in those houses even. Not that he didn't like Ravenclaw, and the people in it-Fionna included-it just seemed curious.
Raising an eyebrow, Danny felt both amused and flattered at the same time. He was sure being a 'fine specimen' was a compliment, but it was an odd one at that. "Even your flirting sounds bookish," He pointed out, drumming his fingers on the rim of his glass. "Don't fret though, I have plenty of experience in that department, I'll help you sort it out." Danny winked at her. It was true though, if there was anything he was actually good for besides class and quidditch, it was flirting with pretty girls. Useful talent for the most part too.
Personally he found no interest in the dusty books, he preferred to buy his own, nice, new ones at the bookstores. It was certainly a tad more pricey that way, and eventually you started to run out of places to store your books. But the crisp, neat, dust-free pages were worth it. Plus he had enough inheritance to afford the extra reading. "Or perhaps the worse the books are. Because even the books worth reading, someone from our house would've picked them up at least once so the dust would've been brushed off. Therefore the ones with the most dust must be essentially useless."
"Technically the librarian saying it doesn't really mean anything, she's always in the library-which okay, she is the librarian, but that still sounds hypocritical to me."
Swirling the tip of his finger in the top of his butterbeer, Danny pulled it out and wiped it neatly above his lips, leaving behind a thin white trail. It earned him another giggle from the table of girls sitting yards away, but he simply gave them an acknowledging wave. "There. All you had to do was ask politely, you know? You didn't have to beg really," He smirked, feigning a look of exasperation at her so-called 'begging'.
His smirk only widened as she asked about his plans to distract her. Licking his new mustache off, he gave her an amused look. "I thought it was obvious? I'm already distracting you." He winked, before gesturing between her and her book, which she clearly wasn't focusing on anymore. "Apparently my company is so wonderful in fact, that I haven't even had to put work into convincing you otherwise."
"Oh-and did I mention, blue's a good color on you."
